Migraine is a recurrent neurological disorder characterized by moderate to severe throbbing headache, often on one side of the head, frequently accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, and visual disturbances. Episodes may last from a few hours to several days and can significantly affect daily activities, productivity, and quality of life.
Common triggers include stress, irregular sleep, skipped meals, hormonal changes, bright light, strong odours, dehydration, and certain foods. In Ayurveda, migraine is closely correlated with Ardhavabhedaka and Suryavarta, conditions involving the derangement of Vata and Pitta dosha affecting the channels of the head.
01Our Ayurvedic Approach
Rishi Ayurveda has developed a successful treatment program for severe headaches and migraine. Treatment is individualized after detailed assessment of the patient's constitution, triggers, and frequency of episodes. Therapies such as Nasya (medicated nasal administration), Shirodhara (continuous pouring of medicated liquids over the forehead), Shirovasti, and Thalapothichil are combined with internal herbal formulations to pacify the aggravated dosha, calm the nervous system, and reduce the frequency and intensity of attacks.
Dietary regulation, stress management, yoga, adequate sleep, and trigger avoidance form an essential part of long-term management, helping patients achieve lasting relief naturally.
